Spent the whole day travelling to Krabi today. Found a nice little guest house in Krabi town for 100B each a night. Been away 5 week now, its all starting to seem very real, kats having second thought, i've realised the moneys not gonna get me everywhere i wanted so am gonna have a re-think over the next few days and decided exactly what i wanna do.
Decided to start looking for volunteer positions in Cambodia, its something ive been looking into for months but never actually applied for. Fingers crossed i get something :oD
Krabi is the nearest / cheapest place to the Phi Phi islands (where 'The Beach' with Leo Di was filmed) on the 14th i took myself off on a day tour of the islands. We really wanted to actually stay on the island buts just way too expensive! The day trip was really cool, not just cus of the scenary but also as it is the first thing i have done by myself in nearly 5 weeks! Cabin fever anyone ;oD I met a really cool bunch of lads on the tour (which was nice, i was sure i was going to be the youngest and stuck with families and honey mooners all day) Travis and Codey from Australia and Blake from Chicago. As usual Travis and Codey being FIT were gay but hay you cant have it all ;oD The tour was very touristy - ship them in, ship them out etc. 'The Beach' was disappointing, there were sooo many people all there at the same time it was like being at a fun fair! Very beautiful but if you ever go i'd suggest hiring a slow boat for the day (its very cheap) take a picnic, and ask the fisherman/driver to take you to all the usual sight, just once the crowds have gone away.
The evening of the tour i arranged to meet up with all the lads in Ao Nang, went back picked up kat n coop and then headed back over to meet the boys (its about a 30-40mins bus ride from Ao Nang to Krabi). It was a really good night got quite drunk on Mojitos! saw some magic and then had a very interesting tuk-tuk/ pick-up truck ride home with sum locals as the tuk tuks dont run so late back to Krabi town from Ao Nang :oD OOOOooopps.
Went on another boat tour of the islands on the 16th (note to self: dont believe everything the poster says). Long boat pick-up Cat cruiser to ferry you about, free practice scuba session restaurant meal and night swimming to see under water fire...... long boat all day, just snorkelling, BBQ meal / make shift meal on the beach, night swim? under water fire????? Ha ho live and learn.... if it seems too good, it probebly is ;o) Altought we did get stuck in/near a storm at sea and saw a Tornando in the water connected to the clouds not so far from the boat :oD
Head off to Koh Jum tomorrow, it was recommended by a south africa hippy whos lived here for year so fingers crossed its nice!
